Insurance Requirements

Notice: This is a draft template and general information only โ it is not insurance advice. Have it reviewed by an Australian lawyer, and speak to a licensed insurance broker about your own cover.
Xquip does not provide insurance of any kind. We do not insure equipment, hirers, owners, or crew. Arranging appropriate cover is the responsibility of the users involved in each transaction. This page sets out what we expect.
1. Hirers (renting equipment)
- You are responsible for the equipment from pickup until return.
- You should arrange appropriate insurance covering loss, theft, and damage for the full hire period โ for example, production insurance or a short-term equipment policy.
- If you do not have cover, you are personally responsible for the cost of repair or replacement if something goes wrong.
2. Owners (listing equipment)
- You should maintain your own commercial cover appropriate to the value of your gear.
- Do not rely on Xquip or on a hirer's cover existing โ confirm arrangements directly before handing over equipment.
- Documenting condition at handover (photos/video) supports any later claim.
3. Crew
Freelance crew engaged through Xquip are independent contractors. You are responsible for your own insurance, including public liability and any cover required for the work you perform.
4. What Xquip does and doesn't do
- We do not provide, broker, or arrange insurance.
- We do not verify that any user holds insurance.
- We provide a marketplace and general information only. Any decision about cover is yours.
5. Get proper advice
Insurance is regulated in Australia. For advice about the right cover for your situation, speak to a licensed insurance broker or provider. Nothing on this page is financial or insurance advice.
