Prohibited Items Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Xquip is a marketplace for legitimate film and production equipment and crew. To keep everyone safe and on the right side of the law, certain items may not be listed for rent or sale.
1. Items you must not list
- Stolen goods or any item you do not own or have authority to rent or sell.
- Counterfeit, pirated, or trademark-infringing products.
- Unsafe or non-compliant electrical equipment (e.g. untested, modified, or items failing Australian electrical safety standards).
- Weapons, firearms, or replica firearms โ including those used as film props โ unless you hold all required licences and permits.
- Surveillance and listening devices where their sale, hire, or use is restricted under state or federal law.
- Drones or radio-frequency transmitters that are not compliant with CASA and ACMA requirements.
- Pyrotechnics, special-effects explosives, or hazardous materials.
- Any item whose rental, sale, or possession is unlawful or requires a licence the user does not hold.
2. Items that need extra care
Some gear is legal but regulated. If you list it, you are responsible for ensuring you (and the hirer) comply with all applicable rules โ for example:
- Drones: operation is governed by CASA. Commercial use may require accreditation or a remote pilot licence.
- Wireless gear (radio mics, transmitters): must operate on ACMA-permitted frequencies.
- High-powered lighting and rigging: must be safe and, where relevant, operated by competent persons.
3. Your responsibility
Listing an item on Xquip is your declaration that it is legal to rent or sell and complies with all applicable Australian laws and standards. Xquip does not inspect items and is not responsible for verifying compliance.
4. Enforcement
We remove prohibited listings on discovery and may suspend or close accounts that list them. Unlawful items may be reported to the relevant authorities.
